Hi!

We have a special guest edition of Too Online for you all today, dearest gentle reader. (I’m watching the new Bridgerton on 1.5x speed.)

Our guest writer is Winny. You may know her from Chipped (aka the microchip manicure), or from her hit tweets like:

Winny is working on CUE, a new prediction market for pop culture. This is not a paid endorsement, we just love her vision and tenacity as a founder. Since this is also a topic us boys have weighed-in on in the past (and ahead of Kendall Jenner’s Big Game bets this weekend) we felt passionately compelled to share.

Amen.

Love,

The Boys

Hi, I'm Winny, the founder of Chipped Social and Cue.fun, and I'm just a girl building the next layer of the internet. If you didn't know by now, I'm a slut for girltech.

I started losing money on Polymarket about 2 years ago, because I'm going to be honest I have no clue what's going on in politics and sport, I just wanted to be involved. "Well here's a market on Taylor Swift," they muttered under their breath.

During fashion week, all I wanted was a market on whether Lana Del Rey would bring her alligator husband to the shows (she did), I wanted to vote on if Darshan would get his visa (not yet), if Timothy was Esdeekid (nope).

me and who

We've been pattern-matching culture our whole lives. We built that skill, brick by brick, by spending years of our lives on MySpace and Tumblr. Two decades of clocking the tea, for free?

Prediction markets are finally having their moment and are transforming the way we interact with news. True “infofi” is forever changed. But still, obviously, all of them are built by boy brains for boy brains [non-derogatory].

Meanwhile, the gals on TikTok are earnestly forecasting - calling trends, predicting breakups, timing cultural shifts - they just don't have anywhere to put that conviction. There is nothing I love to see more than a woman being right.

Opinion and culture markets are literally built different. They're ephemeral, like the movements they're tracking. You take a position, it resolves, you move on. No one is chained to a token forever, no one has to get rugged, and we can just move on. Cue is the layer of the internet that monetizes conviction in motion.

We've spent years being right about things that don't pay. Now it can. Cue.fun <3
