short kings, AI hardware, etc.

Ay up,

We’ve been in London aura farming.

We also recorded our 200 episode of the podcast. Now could be a good time for you to catch up. For those who pay attention it’s actually quite episodic.

Polygon pulling that good, good [institutional].

The timeline got completely rekt this week when news broke that OpenAI will acquire IO, the startup founded one year ago by the iconic and revered designer Jony Ive, in an all-stock deal valued at $6.5 billion.

To make this announcement, they dropped a cinematic nine-minute trailer filled with San Francisco propaganda for a product that doesn’t exist yet.

For the nerds and think bois, the earth was shaking beneath them. For the dumb bitches, the skinny jeans were distracting.

And for others, they are living in Her World.

Jony Ive and his team will focus on developing AI hardware and devices that help people better engage with the technology. In my opinion, the success or failure of this endeavor hinges entirely on one piece of information:

If he’s a short king, we’ll be waiting with bated breath. If he’s over 5'7", we’re just going to get another fucking pin, eventually sold off to the Samsung LED TV innovation team.

Now, there is much speculation on the timeline a what the form factor of this device could be.

And no one asked, but if it were up to me, here are a few form factors that I would find interesting.

1) This itty bitty gold Balmain purse spotted on their SS ’25 runway show:

2) The Gucci gg1778s in red or the McQueens T-bar cat-eye in green and silver:

3) A Paul Gaultier mixed medal choker.

Are these just things I want to buy? Yes. Am I concerned that the aesthetic future of our reality is partially in the hands of a man who wears light-wash skinny jeans? Also yes.

Anyway, Boys Club has already done the good work of thinking through chic wearable options so if Ives needs some ideas, can someone send him this?
