A trend was brought to my attention this week that is so far outside my lived reality, I can’t look away.
This is a lifestyle….. you wouldn’t understand it

Princess Treatment refers to a dynamic in relationships where the woman is treated like royalty. In practice, this looks like over-the-top chivalry and extreme pampering, with plenty of nuance and debate around the roles of materialism, emotional care, and submission.
i love princess treatment. tie my shoe for me when it gets untied, carry me when my feet start to hurt from wearing these really cute heels all day, kiss my hand and tell me i’m the most beautiful girl you’ve ever laid eyes on, open doors for me, pull my chair out for me,

If you take to Reddit, it’s a lot of men in their mid-thirties expanding their dating age range and really going through it.

TikTok really hits the sweet spot for understanding the varying perspectives on this trend.

When this first came across my desk, the earnestness with which these women give advice on how to be a princess and what they expect from their husbands, boyfriends, or fiancés made me genuinely think it was parody.
But for many, this could not be more serious.
princess treatment doesn't mean he buys you gifts 24/7, drives you around, or gets your nails/toes done. it means he doesn't let you go to bed upset, he's patient with you, treats you delicately from the way he talks and touches you.

And for some, their definition of Princess Treatment just sounds like the bar has been set so low that simply being with someone who is kind to you feels like royal treatment.
:(
But no one takes this more seriously than the final boss of Princess Treatment, a TikTok creator based in Utah who gives advice on how to go out to dinner without speaking to the staff, lifting a finger, or even ordering for yourself.
@jojoejoelle Princess Treatment Dining Edition 🕊️🤍 #princesstreatment #princesstreatmentonly #husbandwife #marriage #marriedlife #husband #healthymarriage
Her videos have been stitched to death, covering every side of the argument you can imagine—from parody POVs of the waitstaff she refuses to speak to, to viewers asking for advice on how to handle specific situations, to critiques of her behavior as a Princess.

The trend has evolved into a new format where girlfriends present various scenarios and ask their partners whether it counts as Bare Minimum or Princess Treatment. If the partners answer incorrectly, they get sprayed with a hose or have their heads dunked in cold water.
Now, whenever you come across a certain corner of the internet, it’s important to ask yourself: if…

And if I’m sitting here, unable to stop watching these videos because I find them so problematic, bizarre, and genuinely foreign, does that mean I’m somehow playing into the kink? If so:
