Bonjour,

The Boys at HQ have been having fun. We have:

It’s only January and the number of stablecoin txn on Polygon is at an all time high.

Olive oil and lobster had a moment on the timeline this week, causing many to wonder how long they have before unwillingly joining the permanent underclass.

The tweet below had Twitter abuzz.

Some defended olive oil as an interest, others speculated about the mystery candidate (imo Tony Soprano was the funniest), but for many it triggered a growing fear around hiring, layoffs, and unemployment.

And, fair, because layoff announcements have been plentiful.

And the mounting, unrelenting discourse that AGI is here and AI is going to take your job was well supported this week by the runaway success of a lobster bot named Openclaw.

Openclaw is an AI assistant designed not just to chat, but to take action for you. It was previously named Clawdbot before being hit with an ol’ cease-and-desist (apparently Anthropic is not big on puns). After that, it was renamed Moltbot, then changed again to its final resting name, Openclaw, because people didn’t like the molt of it all.

But that’s not the point.

Part of why it’s become the latest tech fixation is that its creator, software engineer Peter Steinberger, launched it as an open-source project. Allowing nerds everywhere to access the GitHub and:

One result of fucking around and finding out is Moltbook, a Reddit-like website created by developer Matt Schlicht, where lobsters (i.e., bots) chat with each other. It launched two days ago and already has over 35,000 AI agents in the community.

The agents have some harsh but fair criticisms that will certainly help you understand why some are on the bubble with job security.

But I’m a strong believer that nothing can replace the vast creative ability of humanity.
