me as your tradwife

whipping up this newsletter from scratch

Bonjour,

The simulation is glitching and I’m here to report on it.

But first, we’ve got some IRL stuff happening this month that you should not miss.

Some news for this newsletter. We’re excited to share that this read is now powered by our friends at Polygon. We’ll be working with them throughout the year to bring you all the good stuff — parties, drops, and more, starting with our concept collection that dropped yesterday. And, of course, our co-hosted Tradwife Prom. Very cool moves all around.

I got exactly two texts yesterday asking what Tradwife means, so an overview for you, felt essential.

The Tradwife trend has existed in various forms and fashions since the beginning of time. Some even argue that the success of social media can be attributed to mommy bloggers aka Tradwives 1.0.

But with a Trump/Vance America in full swing, it feels as though it has come front and center.

The queen mother of the current Tradwife resurgence is Nara Smith, who has made her internet fame by cooking elaborate meals for her family (from scratch), always decked out in formal wear, and speaking in a sultry voice.

Her internet fame caused outrage for some, as a backwards glorification of trad gender stereotypes, which of course only blew her up even more. Other Tradwives in this more homemaking-PTA-mom vein include homeschooling mom and nepobaby Ballerina Farms, and sweet Boys Club HQ favorite, Tess Madalyn.

But like all things online, for every Nara Smith, the world wide web gives us a Levi Coralynn—beloved, dom-coded Tradwife to William Conrad, the food influencer who’s known for his “made this for his gf” meals.

The beauty of this movement in this era, is William is also a Tradwife. 🫶

«Side quest lore build - William Conrad’s sister is aforementioned tradwife Tess, again simulation is glitching.»

Anyway I digress. The point is, Tradwife is a spectrum. A mindset. It both is and isn’t heteronormative, it both is and isn’t patriarchal, it both is and isn’t subversive.

It’s Nicole Kidman in Eyes Wide Shut, it’s Travis Kelce, it’s horny Sabrina Carpenter.

It’s an apropos week to be digging into Tradwives, as a new bombshell just entered the villa timeline.

Like all things in life and in Boys Club, LARPing as a Tradwife is a bit, and like every bit, we will take it too far.
