Babe wake up you’re showing your age.

A few trends caught my eye this week that speak to the same idea: you're either old, young, a Boomer, Gen Z, or Millennial, etc. The point is, we can tell.

For me, it all started with a wave of posts demonstrating how the style of your Instagram stories reveals your age. Study below:

TLDR if you are tagging the location, you are basically Jimmy Carter.

Next up, the meme format “I SAID YES!!!!!! 💍🥂🥳🎉💗🎀✨” caught the timeline by storm. This is your classic bait and switch style meme, where you’re lead to believe a thing, and by the end of the tweet you are rekt.

The reason this format took off is that there was a time, not too long ago, when Millennials posted things like "I SAID YES," "DID A THING," or "THAT'S THE TWEET" in a pure, non-ironic way that, when I think about it now, gives me the full-body, head-to-toe ick that I can't even put into words.

And now, in 2024, instead of going to therapy, we’re processing the embarrassment of our early internet behavior in the best way we know how.

And the big guy upstairs (no, not God—Sam Altman) is catching on. The recent launch of ChatGPT’s AI voice feature reads this generational divide to filth. Cait will show you:

Let’s just hope that as we age beautifully and gracefully, we will also learn things along the way.
