i'm sincerely insane

doing it for the love of the game

Bonjour,

Updates on my end.

  1. Tried to out source my research for the newsletter this week.

  2. Boys Club HQ came across a new KPI for 2025.

  1. Have you listened to the latest Feelings Check-In pod? No worries, the TLDR is:

Happy Holidays!!!!!

This week, my internet has been filled with the masterclass-level press tour of Timothée Chalamet promoting his Bob Dylan biopic, The Complete Unknown.

There is plenty of writing about the approach, highlighting a freshness and absurdity for which his team deserves kudos.

While I love an orchestrated timeline takeover from the Hollywood elite, I fear what it has done for me (and this newsletter) is provide an excuse to talk about one of my favorite corners of the internet: Club Chalamet.

It has come to my attention that some people in this world do not know what Club Chalamet is, so here we go.

Club Chalamet is a stan account, but more than that, Club Chalamet is a folk hero.

The poster behind this community is steeped in lore, known for her insider intel and serious commitment to blocking anyone who comes at her.

I’m not a part of this community; I’m not even one of the 27.5K followers of this Twitter account, but as an outside observer of this ecosystem, I see it as a perfect encapsulation of the internet times we live in.

Leaving aside the fact that there are some deeply problematic aspects of this account, and that it might be a product of obsessive behavior or some form of mental illness (I’m not a mental health professional, despite all my I can fix him energy), there is some PMF here that comes from two things:

  1. A community that is fully and completely about one thing.

  2. The posting is done for the love of the game, and that’s felt.

It’s not content for content’s sake, she’s not doing it to feed the unrelenting algorithms. It comes from a place of genuine expression, using the World Wide Web to connect with others who also genuinely want Timothée Chalamet to win an Oscar.

And me? When I think about my best work on the internet? Mine, too, has always come from a sincerely insane place. When you do it as an offering for god, for the love of the game, fellow netizens can sense it.
